Description
The IIFAL Level 1 Foundation Certificate in Supporting Boys and Young Men is a professional development training programme designed for individuals working with, supporting, mentoring, or safeguarding boys and young men across education, youth work, community, and care settings.
This course provides a structured introduction to the key factors that shape behaviour, identity, emotional wellbeing, and development during adolescence. It explores how boys and young men are influenced by their environment, relationships, peer groups, and wider social pressures.
Learners will develop a deeper understanding of trauma, behaviour as communication, emotional regulation, and survival responses, alongside practical strategies for engagement and support. The programme also covers critical safeguarding areas including Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), County Lines, missing episodes, and risk indicators.
The training is designed to be practical and applicable, supporting professionals to build trust, improve communication, and respond effectively to vulnerable or disengaged young people. It is grounded in real-world experience working with young people affected by trauma, exclusion, exploitation, and social disadvantage.
On completion, learners will receive a certificate demonstrating foundational competence in supporting boys and young men within professional practice.
This course is suitable for youth workers, teachers, teaching assistants, social workers, sports coaches, mentors, community leaders, and anyone working in a safeguarding or youth-facing role.
