What is an Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships provide specialized training for individuals aged 16 and above, post full-time education, preparing them for employment. This initiative offers comprehensive mentorship, covering career aspects like CV building, refining interviews, and understanding workplaces.

Apprenticeships offer hands-on experience through reputable employers, in collaboration with IIFAL, nurturing growth. Just as we aspire to facilitate development, these employers foster participants’ advancement, making apprenticeships a holistic journey toward success.

Why do an apprenticeship at IIFAL?

A Traineeship facilitates entry into a job or apprenticeship, serving as a stepping stone.

Compared to direct applications, Traineeships offer a more fruitful path into employment. Trainees experience the work environment and employers gauge their capabilities, often leading to apprenticeship opportunities.

Benefits encompass:

  1. Salary earnings
  2. Paid holidays
  3. Attainment of qualifications
  4. Acquisition of job-specific skills
How do you become an apprentice?

To join our apprenticeship program, you must:

  1. Be eligible to work in the UK and engaged in full-time employment. If you lack a job, the Government’s apprenticeship vacancy matching service can assist. We’re available to aid in your job and apprenticeship applications.

  2. Hold no qualifications at Level 4 or above. For instance, having finished a foundation degree disqualifies you from becoming an apprentice.

  3. Be 16 years or older—there’s no maximum age limit.

Even if you’re not presently prepared, we can guide you toward an apprenticeship in the future

Is an apprenticeship right for me?

Our mission is centered around assisting young individuals affected by social and economic inequality. We recognize that these disparities might have hindered your progress in the past. Perhaps you’ve experienced time in foster care, struggled with unstable housing or homelessness, taken on the role of a young carer, faced financial difficulties, encountered the criminal justice system, tackled substance abuse, or navigated single parenthood. These ordeals might have restricted your ability to achieve your potential. Irrespective of your past, our commitment is to collaborate with you in attaining your aspirations.

We distinguish ourselves as a charity, distinct from an educational institution, relying on funding to deliver our specialized programs. Our funding is explicitly allocated to support youth who have confronted these life challenges.

Our Traineeship program is tailored for individuals who:

  • Fall between the ages of 16 and 24.
  • Reside in London.
  • Are not engaged in full-time education.
  • Are either unemployed or working part-time in a non-preferred field, with earnings below £17,004 annually.
  • Can commit to our course, which may involve full-time participation during work experience placements.
  • Have experienced any of the aforementioned challenges.

As part of our enrollment process, you’ll be requested to provide documentation related to the above.

Our Traineeship program is not suited for those who:

  • Already possess the skills and experience necessary for apprenticeships or employment.
  • Are currently in year 11 or surpass the age of 24.
  • Hold existing paid employment with earnings surpassing £17,004 annually.
