Description
The Core Foundation for Teaching course is designed for Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors, and education support professionals who are taking on additional teaching responsibilities, transitioning into a teaching role, or considering progression into teaching or training positions.
This self-paced course builds on your existing experience in learning environments, developing the core teaching skills, confidence, and professional understanding required to lead learning effectively. Learners will strengthen their ability to plan and deliver structured lessons, explain concepts clearly, select appropriate teaching methods, manage behaviour positively, and use assessment to support learner progress.
The programme also explores pastoral and safeguarding responsibilities associated with teaching roles, including first encounters with a class, the role of the form tutor, and working effectively within pastoral teams. Emphasis is placed on inclusive practice, professional boundaries, and learner wellbeing across further education, training, and adult learning settings.
On completion, learners will be prepared to step confidently into teaching responsibilities, support learning independently where appropriate, and progress towards recognised teaching qualifications or wider teacher training pathways. CPD Awarded: 9 hours.
