About Course

Target Audience: Young people aged 11–19

Format: Self-Paced Online Course / 60-Minute Classroom Workshop

What is this course about?

This is a critical, frank, and non-judgmental awareness course designed to e0quip young people with the facts they need to make safe life choices. It moves beyond headlines and challenges common myths to focus on real-life consequences and practical, safe strategies.

In collaboration with @FOS Coaching, this course is built to empower you to be a positive force in your own life and community.

Key Areas We Cover:

Module 1: The Reasons

  • Understanding the Push: We explore the key pressures that lead young people to carry knives, including fear, status, and the powerful influence of peers, social media, and music.

  • The “Why” Wall: Examine anonymous reasons why people carry weapons and pivot the discussion toward solutions.

Module 2: The Cost

  • Ryan’s Story (Case Study): Analyze a real-life scenario to see how small decisions quickly lead to devastating outcomes.

  • The Price Tag: A clear, factual breakdown of the life-long legal consequences: the impact of a permanent Criminal Record, time in prison, and travel limitations.

  • Group Liability: Understand the law of Joint Enterprise—how you can be charged and sentenced just for being present or helping plan an incident, even if you never touched a knife.

Module 3: Safe Choices

  • Myth Check: Challenge and dismantle the 10 most dangerous myths about carrying a knife (e.g., why carrying one actually puts you in greater danger).

  • Exit Strategies: Learn and practice concrete, non-confrontational techniques for exiting high-pressure situations and refusing peer pressure safely.

  • Getting Help: Identify and access confidential UK support pathways (like Fearless and Childline) so you know exactly who to turn to when you or a friend is at risk.

Outcomes:

By the end of this course, you will be able to clearly articulate the real dangers of knife crime, understand the permanent legal barriers a conviction creates, and feel confident in your ability to choose a safe, constructive path for your future.
