Course Description – Joint Enterprise Awareness: Risk, Association and Consequences

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Joint Enterprise, helping participants understand the risks, associations, and consequences of involvement in joint criminal activity. Designed for parents, young people aged 10+, educators, youth workers, and community leaders, it emphasises awareness, prevention, and community responsibility rather than legal instruction.

Through a mix of practical activities, scenario analysis, and guided discussions, participants will learn to:

  • Recognise the influence of peers and social networks on decision-making.

  • Identify risky behaviours and situations that could lead to involvement in Joint Enterprise.

  • Understand the personal, social, and legal consequences of association with criminal activity.

  • Develop practical strategies to reduce risk for themselves, children, and communities.

  • Support young people in making positive, informed choices without fear or misinformation.

The course is self-paced and can be delivered as a single 6-hour workshop or split into shorter sessions to suit organisational needs. Participants receive a certificate of completion and 6 CPD points. All materials remain the intellectual property of the course creator, allowing flexibility to share or deliver content across different platforms.

By the end of this course, participants will be better equipped to identify risk, intervene early, and promote safer, informed decision-making in their communities.

Module 2: Risks of Association
This module explores how peer influence shapes decisions and behaviours, and how casual involvement in risky activities can quickly escalate. Participants will learn to identify red flags in friendships, social circles, and online groups that may indicate exposure to potential harm. Through scenario-based analysis, learners will develop practical strategies to recognise and reduce risks for themselves or the young people they support.

Module 3: Consequences
Participants will explore the potential consequences of involvement in Joint Enterprise, including personal outcomes such as arrest, conviction, and disruption to education or employment. Social and emotional consequences, such as family strain, community stigma, stress, and trauma, will also be discussed. Awareness of these outcomes helps learners make informed decisions and guide others effectively.

Module 4: Prevention and Awareness
This module focuses on practical strategies for preventing involvement in Joint Enterprise. Participants will learn communication techniques for parents, young people, and community leaders, how to raise awareness in schools and local networks, and the importance of digital safety in reducing risk.

Module 5: Supporting Young People

This module equips learners with the tools to proactively support at-risk youth and guide them towards safe, informed choices.

Module 6: Summary and Next Steps
This module consolidates the learning from the Joint Enterprise Awareness course, highlighting key takeaways and practical strategies. I’ve completed the Joint Enterprise Awareness course delivered by Pearls Wisdom and I’d rate it 9/10.

The course is specifically designed to educate children and young people about the risks of joint enterprise, particularly how association, peer influence, and everyday decisions can escalate into serious legal consequences. The six modules are clear, well structured, and reinforced with short quizzes that assess learning at the end of each section. The content is strong on legal understanding, risk, association, and real-world impact, without overcomplicating the message.

The course also includes useful downloadable resources, such as a reflection journal, which support deeper thinking and practical application beyond the modules.

The reason this is a 4.5* rather than a 5 is purely personal. I occasionally found the quiz format challenging, as some answers required single-word responses where I instinctively answered in full sentences. That reflects my own neurodiversity and learning style, not a weakness in the course itself.

I would confidently recommend this course to young people across the UK, as well as parents, youth workers, and educators seeking a clear, preventative understanding of joint enterprise.

A practical and much-needed awareness resource.
